Beulah Primitive Baptist Church

Located on South Three Notch Street, just a few blocks south of the Square in downtown Troy, Alabama is the Beulah Primitive Baptist church. The church was organized on 15 May 1831 at the home of Lewis Pugh. It is the oldest church in Troy and  was in use until about 2000. This is where John Blair Sr ,his family and members of the Pugh families attended church services. The building was rebuilt about 1953 but the interior looks much the same as it would have a hundred and fifty years ago.

Entry to Beulah Church parking area on the West side of South Three Notch Street. Across the street behind the utility pole is Beulah Cemetery. The Blair family plot is located about 50 feet from the pole overlooking the street. The church was still in use until the late 1990's.

Beulah Church building is located a couple of hundred feet from the street in a clump of trees. The church cannot be seen from the North part of the cemetery. Standing in front of the building are Lois Blair Martin, Joe Blair and Marjorie Taylor Blair

Interior of the church probably looks much the same as it did in the 1830's. There are no rooms other than the sanctuary and no musical instrument. The pews look as though they are the original ones. Note size of the pulpit. Standing in pulpit is Jim Blair.
